ABOUT ME

Amber Brandt

Hello! My name is Amber Brandt, and I'm fourteen years old. I live in the south of the Netherlands and have just started ninth grade. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, and photography. I'm an active member of Fridays For Future, an organization of youth who are committed to climate justice. I believe this is a crucial issue, which is why I've made the choice to eat vegan two years ago. I would describe myself as curious, eager to learn and an adventurous person. I like to figure things out, want to know a lot and I'm always ready for a new adventure! School at Sea is a huge one! The idea to be aways from your family to sail the world for six months is incredibelly exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. However, that won't stop me. I'm going to take this amazing opportunity and challenge full enthusiasm and I'm going to do my absolute best to make my dream come true!

Amber possesses great inner strength and knows what she wants. She thrives best with a certain level of personal freedom and is autonomous. By nature, Amber predominantly has an introverted personality. However, she can also collaborate effectively and, when she feels comfortable and the situation allows, she is more than willing to take the lead. I wish her this journey and the (personal) development she will experience through this adventure!

Why am I suitable for School at Sea?

Amber is a sweet, social, and intelligent girl, with an open mind and a big heart for the world around her. Amber has a good sense of what her surroundings need and can naturally unite people within a group into a team. A sustainable journey, with a focus on people, different cultures, and the environment, aligns perfectly with this world changer!

I already introduced myself but who can maybe do that even better are the people around me!

I know Amber as an enthusiastic, intelligent, and hardworking young lady! She is driven and can immerse herself in challenges. Everything needs to remain interesting, or else boredom can set in, and she can become a bit stubborn ;) However, I can recommend everyone to work with her. Her eagerness to learn is a gift, and besides, you can learn from her as well.

Amber is truly a fantastic friend, and it's really great to work with her. I think it's really awesome that she dares to do all these super cool things, and she really inspires me in that!

Amber is driven, diligent, enthusiastic, and, above all, very helpful. She has a strong desire to develop herself and does not shy away from challenges. In doing so, she is willing to be vulnerable and ask for help when needed. During this growth process, she has learned to gradually let go of the reins, which she normally likes to hold tightly. In addition to valuing her own development, she also has an eye for others. She wants to inspire and assist others in their personal growth.
