THE ROUTE

Atlantic adventure

The journey I'm going to make is about 12.000 nautical miles, which translates to 22.000 kilometer! I'm going to explore wonderful, unique places with a rich history and culture. The most destinations are planned but it may depend on the weather circumstances.

Ijmuiden

The journey begins half oktober in the harbour of Ijmuiden, a city in the north of the Netherlands.

Tenerife

Dominica

Curaçao

Panama

The first official destination is Tenerife, where we will climb El Teide, the vulcano that caused the formation of the island.

After crossing the Atlantic Ocean we will arrive at Dominica. We will spend time ashore and experience amazing adventures while crossing the jungle and visiting the boiling lakes.

After visiting the windward islands we will arrive at Curaçao. While exploring a little piece of the Netherlands, on the other side of the world, we will also learn about the slavery history.

In Panama we're going on our first "eigen reis" which translates to "own journey". In small groups we're going to explore everything that the beautiful Panama has to offer us. The only thing that's set is the budget and the time that we need to be back! Aside from that we have all the freedom!

Cuba

In Cuba, we will also set out on our "own journey". With the experiences we gained in Panama we're ready to embark this next adventure!

Bermuda

Azoren

After visiting Cuba, our return journey truly begins. When we reach Bermuda, we will clearly experience the contrasts between the countries!

Despite the Azores, the island group belonging to Portugal, being in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, we have once again reached the European Union. In addition to exploring the island, we will also start preparing for our return in mid-April.

EXPEDITIONS & EXCURSIES

We're not only spending time on board, when we arrive at destinations we go out. We'll climb El Teide on Tenerife, explore the Boiling Lakes in Dominica and cross through jungles.

"OWN JOURNEY'S"

During our sailtrip, we'll be exploring the countries Panama and Cuba. We"ll be doing this slightly different than with other countries, here we will go on "own journeys". We will leave the ship, the Thalassa, for a few days and discover the beauty of Panama and Cuba. The only thing that's planned is the budget and the time we need to be back. We have all the freedom to decide where we'll be sleeping, which activities we're doing, what we're eating and which places we'll be visiting. Because both countries are really different our "own journey's" will also be different. Aside from that we will have a lot more experience the second time, in Cuba.

EXCHANGES

In different countries we'll arrange exchanges with schools. We, therefore, make contact with people of the same age from different nations. We will visit their school and learn a lot about their lives and culture. Afterwards they will visit the ship and we will tell them about our adventure! The plan of that visit? We have the freedom to organize ourselfs!
